Modification of the FanWing concept intended for the use at higher speeds of flight (over 20 m/s) is numerically analyzed. The principle of operation, basic aerodynamic characteristics, and the features in untypical flight situation (autorotation) are described and explained.

This paper presents a new method of calculation of the change of axial twisting angle of compressed helical spring’s end-coils in the case of rotary - free supports. The propriety of derived formulas was experimentally verified. The method is easy in application and gives results much closer to experiment than the presently used method that can be found in literature.

The paper presents strength examination for premolar dental crowns reconstructed with glass fibre dowels in terms of normal occlusal loadings. For comparison, strength examination of fillings retention was also done for crown reconstructions without dowels as well as for the so-called healthy teeth. The analyses of the results have shown a good quality of fillings reconstructed using the glass fibre technique and proved their durability and high strength properties.

In the paper, author presents the analysis of the elastic-plastic residual stresses and the boundaries of plastic zones in two-dimensional model with central circular hole. The experimental testing was carried out by photoelastic coating method. The duralumin model was loaded within the overelastic range by uniformly distributed tensile stresses. For various levels of loading, the photographs of isochromatic pattern were taken. The residual stresses along the axis of symmetry perpendicular to the stretching direction were calculated by the characteristics method, using multisectional schematization of ϭ-ε relation for the material. The boundaries of plastic zones in the loaded model were obtained on the basis of the Treska-Coulomb yield condition directly from the isochromatic pattern. The analysis and discussion of the test results is presented.

The present paper investigates the effects of variable-amplitude loads on fatigue crack growth rates for the 2024-T3 aluminium alloy on the basis of microfractographic analyses and its capacity to reconstruct load-time histories of failed components. For this purpose, there were applied three different variable-amplitude load sequences with single and multiple overloads and underloads. Subsequently, images of fatigue striations on components’ fracture surfaces were examined. The aforementioned loads were employed when simulating fatigue crack behaviour in aeronautical alloys.

The paper presents experimental results of creep and low cycle fatigue (LCF) tests carried out on the as-received cast aluminium alloys with different chemical composition and porosity. The test programmes contain creep investigations under step-increased stresses at different temperatures, and cyclic plasticity under different strain amplitudes and temperatures.

A mathematical model, created for description of the mechanism of interaction between basic parameters of high pressure dispersion of emulsions, is presented in this paper. The model is applied for the analysis of the influence of physical properties of emulsions, quantitative content of dispersed emulsion phase and parameters of emulsification, pressure and temperature, on the characteristic dimension of particles of the dispersed phase. The model makes it possible to determine appropriate process parameters, especially the pressure necessary to obtain the required dispersion of the emulsion and to define construction and exploitation parameters of high-pressure emulsification valve.
